“It’s so hot in this house, I can’t stand it! Why don’t we have central air conditioning installed?” Well, that’s a good question. And there is a series of questions that comes along with the idea of central air conditioner installation:
- What will the cost be?
- How long does it take to get central air installed?
- How will it work?
- Can you use my existing furnace ducts, or will I need a whole new set of ducts installed?
- What do I do to keep a central air conditioning unit running?
Let’s start by giving you an overview of what an AC install looks like. First, we’ll sit down with you and figure out what you’re looking for, and what would work best for your particular house. You want the right size of air conditioner for your house—not too big or too small.
Here’s a good article on what a central air conditioner installation entails.
One Unit Inside, One Unit Outside
Most houses will use what is known as a split system. This type of system has one unit in the house and one unit outside the house. This involves using your existing ductwork and furnace blower. This video gives you a quick overview of air conditioners:
Build A System Specifically For Your House
We’ll go over your house and figure out how your existing ducts and furnace will work with the new air conditioning units and requirements. We might need to re-configure some things to make it all work—you might need more ducts, have your existing ducts sealed, or increase the blower power on your furnace. We’ll sit down with you and go over all these things with you—how it will work, and what it will cost.
Plan Of Attack!
Once we have a plan of how to go about getting your whole house cooled off, we can work with you to make a plan to have our air conditioner installation technicians come to your house and do the installation. Most installations can be done in less than a week, with minimal disruption to your house and household.
